FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where are you located?

Hereditary Tattoo, 7 S Lincoln St. Wilmington, Delaware 19805. You can visit the shop website here.

How do I make an appointment?

Booking opens on the first of every month to book for the following month (ex. February booking would open January 1st). During open booking periods, I will post a booking form link in my Instagram Bio for you to fill out. My books will remain open for a set period of time only, which I announce in advanced on my Instagram. Please keep in mind that I cannot accept all the proposals I receive due to volume, so proposals will be accepted based on concept.

Do you require a deposit?

I require a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit to hold your appointment, which comes out of the final cost of your tattoo. If it is a multiple session piece, the deposit comes out of the final session. If you need to reschedule your appointment, please do some more than 72 hours in advanced, or else your deposit will be forfeited. If you do not show up to your appointment or arrive more than 30 minutes late, your deposit will also be forfeited. Deposits are valid for 6 months. * I am now making exceptions to this policy for clients who feel sick or suspect they could possibly be positive for COVID-19. If you are feeling ill, please reschedule your appointment! As much advanced notice as possible is much appreciated, but if you are feeling unwell your deposit will still be valid for rescheduled appointments.*

What is the purpose of my deposit?

The deposit is to ensure that I receive compensation for lost time in the event that a client does not show up for their appointment, or cancels last minute. If I don’t tattoo that day, I don’t get paid! The 72 hour policy is the amount of time I need in order to fill an appointment slot. If a client shows up more than 30 minutes late for their appointment, it may affect my schedule for the day with other appointments.

How much do you charge?

I charge $200 an hour and I have a $400 minimum.

Can I see my design in advance?

Unfortunately I do not send my designs in advance. I will have the design ready when you come in on the day of your appointment and I allow time before we start the tattoo so that I can make small alterations. However, if more significant changes need to be made, I may charge a redraw fee or I may need to reschedule the appointment.

Why was my proposal not accepted?

Unfortunately because I receive such a high volume of proposals, I have to be relatively selective in which projects I accept, so I choose projects based on concept. The reason a proposal may be declined is because: 1. it does not fit within the guidelines of projects I am interested in doing at the moment 2. I have tattooed designs similar to your concept many times already 3. the design is smaller than my 5 inch minimum requirement 4. It does not fit within my style 5. It is not something I believe I am capable of doing.

In my Instagram highlight, there is a list of projects I am interested in tattooing, as well as a list of things I am not interested in.

How should I prepare for my appointment/what should I bring?

  • Please bring a valid, government issued photo ID

  • Please come to your appointment well rested, hydrated and having eaten a meal! You may bring snacks and drinks to keep your blood sugar stable during your tattoo. Although food is not allowed in the tattoo area, you are more than welcome to eat in the lobby.

  • Please dress in appropriate garments for the location of your tattoo to be easily accessed. Also please be aware that I will try my hardest not to get ink on your clothes, but it is a possibility!

  • Please do not apply any lotions to the area prior to the appointment as my stencil will have a difficult time sticking to your skin.

  • Make sure you are not hungover or under the influence of alcohol, as this will thin your blood. Please also notify my in advanced if you are taking any medications that may thin your skin or blood.

  • If the tattoo is in an area you do not normally shave, please do not shave in advanced! This can cause razor burn which may affect the healing of your tattoo. I will prep your skin when you arrive!

Can I bring friends?

I ask that you please either come alone, or only bring one guest with you to your appointment. Space is limited and if you bring more than one person with you, the others will be asked to wait in the lobby. * This policy has now changed due to COVID, please come to your appointment alone and please read my page on COVID Guidlelines *

Are touch ups free?

Yes, I do touch up my own work for free the first time as long as it is within a year of the last session. If another touch up is necessary I will ask to have a look at the tattoo prior to ensure it is healing properly and not due to carelessness on the clients part. I do not touch up other artists work.

What kind of tattoos do you NOT do?

I do not do tattoos under five inches, script, color tattoos, photo realism, copies of other artists tattoos, floral designs smaller than 10 inches, tree designs, or logos. I am unable to take on every project so please do not be offended if your proposal is not accepted. I will try my best to refer you to another artist who would be more appropriate for the project.

How do I take care of my tattoo?

I will walk you through detailed instructions on how to care for your healing tattoo after your appointment! Instructions can also be found on the AFTERCARE page of my website.

Can I bring my child or dog to the appointment?

No, please make alternative arrangements for your children under the age of 18 and pets as they are not allowed in the shop.
